Here is some information about 3^rd grade for you and your parents

 

Best way to communicate is email, if that’s not available or possible then calling the office at 303.347.4725 and leaving a message works well too (this is not our voicemails).

 

 

Homework Expectations:

·        20 minutes of reading a night

·        Math usually Monday – Thursday (sometimes math, certain classroom projects, or studying for a test may carry over through the weekend)

·        Your child will receive a planner in which homework and other reminders will be written down daily. A signature is required everyday so we know the work is being completed. Also, the planner is a great way to communicate with us, you can leave notes, attach reminders, etc.

·        There is study hall for students who don’t complete their homework and/or don’t get their planner signed. Students come to study hall (usually one of our classrooms) after lunch instead of going outside.

 

Tips for the summer & web resources:

·        Practice basic addition/subtraction facts (1-12)

·        Read! Read! Read!

·        http://www.eduplace.com/tales/ (create on-line wacky tales that can be printed)

·        http://www.cdli.ca/CITE/summer_reading.htm (on-line sites for kids, award winning book titles, summer reading program and log)

·        http://jc-schools.net/tutorials/interactive.htm (interactive site with links to all curriculum)

 

 

1.    Log in to the classroom account. 

 

2.   Click the Online Leveled Books logo.

 

3.   Click the Student Group graphic your child has been assigned.

 

4.   Click Find Books. Browse by topic.

 

5.   Click topic icon that interests you.

 

6.   Choose a book to read by clicking its cover. The colored book covers include audio. Most helpful for early readers.

 

7.    The end of the book includes responding questions and an activity. When time permits these are excellent opportunities to share with your child.
